Task 3
You are going to give a talk about public holidays in Russia. You will have to start in 1.5 minutes and speak for not more than 2 minutes (10-12 sentences).
Remember to say:
- what public holidays are celebrated in Russia
- what your favourite public holiday is, and why you like it
- how your favourite public holiday is celebrated in your city, town or village
- what your attitude to holidays is
You have to talk continuously.

I’m going to give a talk about public holidays in Russia.
In Russia we have got many holidays. The most popular holiday in our country is New Year’s Eve. Victory Day on May 9 is one of our favourite holidays too. Also, Men’s Day and Women’s Day should be mentioned. Of course, I love New Year and New Year holidays. I like it because of a special fairy mood when everybody, even adults, believes in miracle. I love how my city looks during this time of the year too.
I think all Russians celebrate my favourite public holiday. We all have very similar traditions how to spend the New Year night. We have a huge festive dinner, then exchange presents, play games and if the weather is good enough we go for a walk. There are a lot of holiday fireworks outside in my city.
Obviously, I have got a positive attitude to holidays. I’m sure everybody loves holidays.
I think that’s all that I wanted to tell you about holidays in my country and my family.
